Our Story
Glen Roche founded Roaming Healthcare in 2016 after decades in the health industry. He started out as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Midwife, then later became a pharmaceutical sales representative.
Over the years, Glen observed people coming into hospital - often unnecessarily - for basic services and care.
This inspired him to create a service that kept people in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes while getting high-quality medical and therapeutic support. He realised that people also needed fast access to search for the range of support options in-home, via telehealth and attending provider premises.
Glen knew this approach worked well from his personal experiences.
His own father had moved into his grandfather’s home to provide care when his health declined. Ironically, when the time came, his Gramps was to die in the bed he was born in, within an hour of his birth time on his birthday - at home.
Glen's Mother also inspired him by working in a voluntary capacity.
Glen later took care of his mother-in-law, Oma, in the comfort of her own home with her much-loved pets. However, despite his health background and desire to help, he still found the whole experience to be somewhat challenging. Oma passed away in September 2020 and has been a big source of inspiration for Roaming Healthcare.
So, Glen knows first-hand the importance of finding that additional support to keep your loved ones out of hospital and nursing homes.
Glen says “People can benefit greatly if they can stay at home as long as possible and enjoy the familiarity, time with their pets, and dignity that comes with it. Having easy access to quality healthcare support delivered at home or by other means can make a huge difference.
This means when assistance is needed; whether it's specialised, helpful or practical. Roaming Healthcare is there to provide you with more options and choices.”
Following Glen's nursing/midwifery and end of life experiences with family, he has coined the phrase 'Circle of Life Care' in relation to roaming healthcare.
